Jos Corp. wins Friday Night League
An assemblage of bowling A-listers lifted Jos Corp. to the championship of the 18th season of the Philippine Bowling Association-Capital Bowling Center Friday Night League.
Two short years after joining the Friday Night League and a season removed from a third place finish in the same league, Jos. Corp. players, led by team captain Joe Digno, hoisted the championship trophy Friday night at the CBC in Garapan.
Digno attributed title-winning run of Jos. Corp. to the presence of Class A keglers Kitz Barja, Orly Ebuen, Dannie Robles, and Simon Manacop in its lineup.
He also said up-and-coming bowlers Jorge Soledad, Atoy Banting, Efren Puse, Song Soo Lim, and Richard Peredo also did all the small things in order for the team to succeed.
He thanked all nine players in his team and vowed to defend the title they won this season to complete a rare back-to-back. Digno said all members of the team are deadest in accomplishing the coveted grand slam.
Incidentally, the 19th season of the PBA-CBC Friday Night League kicked off last night with Triple J Wholesale and Triple J Saipan joining the competition.
In one of the closest races for the Friday Night League championship, Jos Corp. ended the season a mere a game ahead of runner-up Villaroyal Pawnshop.
Jos Corp. wound up with a 58-38 win-loss record as against Villaroyal Pawnshop’s 57-39 mark.
Ambyth Shipping was third, a half game behind Villaroyal Pawnshop with a 56.5-39.5 record, while 8Gam3ler and Onwel make up the rest of the Top 5 with 53.5-42.5 and 52-44 slates, respectively.
