Seatbelt checkpoints today, tomorrow

The Department of Public Safety’s Traffic Section will be conducting occupant protection child restraint checkpoints today and tomorrow, Oct. 20-21.

In today’s checkpoint, the first setup will be on Beach Road Chalan LauLau by B&R Repair shop. This operation will commence at approximately 8pm and will terminate at approximately 9:15pm.

Tomorrow, the first setup will be on Beach Road Susupe by Minachoam Atdao. This operation will commence at approximately 7pm hours and will terminate at approximately 8:15pm.

The second setup will be on 2W Chalan LauLau by Trans-America Corporation. This operation will commence at approximately 9pm hours and will terminate at approximately 10:15pm.

Each checkpoint conducted will last at least 75 minutes (1 hour 15 minutes) at each location. This activity is part of the department’s efforts to deter and detect drunk and drugged driving and to ensure that all vehicle occupants are protected.

In addition, traffic officers will be conducting highway criminal interdictions, saturation patrols, aggressive drive interdictions, and laser activities.
