Man allegedly locks up girlfriend for one week
A man allegedly locked his girlfriend in his bedroom for one week and beat her up outside the Labor and Immigration building in San Antonio Monday afternoon.
Alex Alfonso Augustine, 28, ran away, but responding police officers later apprehended him as he was hiding at the Pacific Towers in Chalan Kanoa.
Augustine was charged with assault and battery, disturbing the peace, kidnapping, and interfering with a domestic violence report.
The Superior Court imposed a $15,000 cash bail for the defendant’s temporary liberty.
When police officers arrived, the alleged victim was limping. She had bruises and the right side of her face was swollen.
The woman told police that she was at the Immigration office Monday afternoon when Augustine came and asked her where went the night before. The girlfriend ignored the defendant and walked down the stairs. Augustine, however, followed her and grabbed her cell phone and ran away.
While the woman was at the parking lot, Augustine allegedly approached her again, threatened to kill her and accused her of cheating on him. He then allegedly punched the girl in the face and kicked her thrice on the left leg.
The woman sought help from passersby. She said that Augustine recently locked her up in his bedroom for a week, causing her to fail to report for work.
She added that on Oct. 6, 2006, the defendant also punched her on the right eye and then apologized.
On Oct. 21, 2005, Augustine was also arrested for beating the same victim, police said.
