San Nicolas thanks USCG for rescue
Tinian Mayor Jose P. San Nicolas expressed yesterday his appreciation to the U.S. Coast Guard for its recent rescue of a Tinian resident who had been stranded at sea.
In a letter to Lt. Greg Schultz, U.S. Coast Guard’s Marine Safety Supervisor, San Nicolas said it is to the credit of the Coast Guard that Jessie M. Pangelinan was returned safely to his family.
“On behalf of the people of Tinian, especially the family of Mr. Jessie M. Pangelinan, I wish to extend my sincerest appreciation to you and the Guard for your rapid response to our emergency search and rescue request. Thanks to the U.S. Coast Guard’s quick and decisive action, Mr. Pangelinan was safely returned to Tinian. Indeed, in any emergency such as this, time is of the essence.
“As mayor I was thoroughly impressed by the level of professionalism the U.S. Coast Guard showed Tinian. Although we do not look forward to any further incidents such as this to occur, we trust that the U.S. Coast Guard is ready and willing to assist us in our recovery efforts,” reads part of the mayor’s letter of appreciation.
