The first place picture is becoming clearer in the Blue Division as three undefeated teams continue to top the charts as the Dingleberries, Kraken, and Luther’s Ride improved to 3-0 on Tuesday night during the 8th Annual Miller Lite Coed Four-Person Volleyball League at the Pacific Islands Club.

Taula Peter’s Dingleberries are still hanging on to first place overall as the only squad that hasn’t lost a set and they scored their third straight sweep in San Antonio in by downing Dolphins-Just Wanna Have Fun by a combined score of 33-7.

Peter’s bunch of Berries is averaging a 33-8 point differential per contest through the first three games this season and they showed no signs of slowing down in their 11-1 opener against the Dolphins.

The Dingleberries followed with an 11-3 smack down to clinch the win and closed out the Marianas High School squad with an 11-3 score in the finale. The students fell hard, but they weren’t the only team to go winless as all of the night’s losers succumbed to the power of the broom.

The Eagles of Grace Christian Academy broke into the win column to improve to 1-2 with a hard-fought win over the Kawawang Dolphins on Tuesday night, and they did so in sweeping fashion.

GCA started with an 11-0 skunking to open the match and clinched the win in the second with a one-sided 11-5 score, but the final set didn’t come as easily. Up against a wall, the MHS players fought for every point before heading home, and they forced extra points before GCA emerged with a 13-11 win.

The Dolphins are still looking for their first win, as is Afternoon Delight, who lost its third straight of the season to Luther’s Ride by a combined score of 33-11. Relatively low winds allowed Dan “Barno” Westphal and his sideways spinning serve to shine as the Ride banged out 11-2 and 11-3 wins to notch a tally in the left side of the win-loss column, and Luther Taylor’s crew completed the sweep in the third, 11-6.

Taylor’s squad is undefeated but is still in third place after dropping just two sets through three games, and Scott Eck’s Kraken is in second after dropping one over the same stretch.

Kraken maintained its grip on the second slot after sniffing out Somethin’ Fishy in straight sets, but the win was no walk in the park. Both teams struggled to find a rhythm in the beginning of the match as they traded sideouts for nearly 10 minutes, but Kraken broke through and built up a sizable lead before as Eck, Chris Nelson, Randy Steele, and Beverly Cabanatan secured the set, 11-4.

The second was tougher as Kraken scored an 11-8 win, but it was not as difficult as the third set in which Eck and company eked out a 12-10 win in the finale.
