There are two weeks and two days remaining until the opening ceremonies at the Oleai Sports Complex ring in the 6th Micronesian Games and local businesses are still jumping on the donation bandwagon.

The Bank of Guam became the latest company to get into the spirit of the Games when executive vice president and chief operating officer William D. Leon Guerrero, vice president and loan center manager Mike W. Naholowaa, and vice president and CNMI regional manager Marcie M. Tomokane presented MGOC vice chairman Rex Palacios with a $10,000 check yesterday in the conference room of the Gilbert C. Ada Gymnasium.

“The bank has always been a sponsor of various events in the community. It’s the community that helped the bank grow to where we are today and this is just a token of our appreciation for all of the business they’ve done through us,” said D. Leon Guerrero.

Palacios was pleased with the donation and said that the Bank of Guam’s generosity came as no surprise because of their consistent commitment to the Micronesian community.

“Bank of Guam has been a bank here since the 1970s, as far as I can remember and they’ve always been very responsive to fundraising requests. The Guerrero family has always been very generous to the sports community on Guam and like Bill [D. Leon Guerrero] said, this is just their way of saying how grateful they are to the people of Saipan for patronizing their bank. It works both ways. They are grateful for our business and we are very grateful for their contribution,” he said.
