SCC membership meeting on Wednesday
The Saipan Chamber of Commerce monthly General Membership Meeting will be held on Wednesday, June 7, 2006, 11:30am, at Saipan World Resort in the Royal Taga Ballroom.
Meeting will include a presentation by former NBA star, David Wood, and a ceremony for this year’s Educational Scholarship Recipients. (PR)

Red Cross membership meeting
The NMI Chapter of the American Red Cross will have its general membership meeting this Wednesday, June 7, at 5:30pm.
The meeting will take place at the Chapter office on Airport Road.
There will be election of board members as well as a review of the past fiscal years activities. All Red Cross donors and volunteers are welcome.

Renewal of alcohol license being accepted
The Alcoholic Beverage and Tobacco Control Division of the Department of Commerce is reminding all licensed business establishments that applications for Alcoholic Beverage Control license renewals are now being accepted.
Application forms may be obtained at the Department of Commerce’s One Start Business Center located on the second floor of the Joeten Dandan Building. Interested applicants may also pick up application forms at the ABTC Division, Department of Commerce Building on Capitol Hill.
All licensed businesses in Rota and Tinian may pick up application forms from the Resident Department Head at the departments of Commerce on Rota and Tinian.
The deadline for filing of renewal applications, including payment of fees, is on June 30, 2006.
All licensees whose renewal fees remain unpaid as of June 30, 2006 will automatically by suspended pursuant to 4 CMC Section 5528. Licenses that remain suspended as of July 31, 2006, due to unpaid renewal fees will automatically be revoked and the Secretary of Commerce shall not issue a renewal license. If a license still remains revoked as of July 31, 2006, a new application must be submitted for consideration by the Secretary of Commerce.
Application forms are now available and may be obtained from the One Start Business Center or at the ABTC Division anytime between 7:30am to 4:30pm, Monday thru Friday except on weekends and legal holidays.

SHRM sets member orientation
The Society for Human Resource Management has invited founding members and past presidents Frank L. Gibson SPHR & GPHR and Josephine Mesta, PHR to conduct a new member orientation and to speak on membership benefits on June 15. In addition, SHRM will also award two $500 scholarships.
The meeting will be held from 11:30am to 1:30pm, at the Saipan Grand Hotel, Sea Side Hall. It is free for SHRM members; non-members will be charged $10 (includes lunch).
Included in this session will be a guide to professional resources, publications, research, professional development, conferences, the SHRM website and monthly membership meetings.
All SHRM members and are urged to join their peers for this current and informative conference. Non-members in the business community, whether owners, managers or human resource professionals, are invited to learn more about the Society and to improve their human resource knowledge through the program.

Parade, float applications now available
Applications to participate in the 2006 Liberation Day parade on July 4th is now available at the Saipan Mayor’s Office in Afetnas, Saipan.
The parade will start at 9am on Beach Road in front of the National Office Supply and end at the site of this year’s festivities, the Garapan Fishing Base.
Prizes for the floats will be awarded.
“Awards will be presented for first, second, third, fourth and fifth place, totaling $7,500. Floats will be judged on originality, creativity, design, workmanship, balance, presentation and overall appearance based on this year’s theme, ‘Liberasion Taotao Marianas’,” said parade committee chair Larry Guerrero.
A safety briefing will be held on June 30 at the Multi-Purpose Center in Susupe at 4pm. At this meeting, the sequence of the parade will be addressed.

Dandan Elementary School registration
Dandan Elementary School will begin the registration for school year 2006-2007. The registration is for all NEW and TRANSFER students only.
June 1-30, 2006 Kindergarten thru 6th grade
Kindergarten student must be born from Sept. 1, 2000 to Aug. 31, 2001, to be eligible to register and must be residing within the Upper and Lower Dandan Homestead, Airport Road zone. The same goes to the rest of the grade levels. Registration will be held in the main office from 7:30am to 4:30pm. Kinder student will be on a first come first serve basis.
To prevent unnecessary delay, parents are urged to provide the school registrar or official with copies of the following documents: Birth Certificate, Health Insurance, Social Security, Map to your house. We will NOT register students without the complete documents. Dandan Elementary School will prioritize zone students and new students who have siblings attending DES.
