Police arrested two men in separate domestic violence on Thursday and Friday on Saipan.

Benerando B. Pineda and Albert Pinaula Deleon Guerrero were charged with assault and battery, and disturbing the peace.

The two were taken before Superior Court Presiding Judge Robert C. Naraja for a bail hearing yesterday morning.

Detective Andrea C. Ozawa stated in her report that Pineda repeatedly punched and kicked his wife at their residence on Friday early morning.

Ozawa said the couple’s seven-year-old son, who witnessed the beating, covered his eyes with a teddy bear when Pineda told him to stop watching.

The victim managed to run outside the house and called police.

The victim said that in their nine years of living together, Pineda subjected her to physical and verbal abuse over the past eight years.

Meantime, detective Elias Saralu said Deleon Guerrero repeatedly slapped his wife and strangled her near the Bank of Saipan building in Chalan Kanoa on Thursday night.

Police said that Deleon Guerrero, who was under the influence of alcohol, asked his wife whether she was dating somebody else.

The defendant then allegedly beat up the victim. When the victim’s family members came near them, the defendant ran away.

Police arrested Deleon Guerrero later.
