Mobil donates $2K to SAIWAI
Saipan Walking Association, Inc. may have little or no use at all for cars during its many jaunts in scenic spots around the island, but that did not stop the local walking club from seeking a donation from fuel supplier and oil giant, Mobil Oil Marianas.
SAIWAI called on Mobil’s headquarters in Puerto Rico yesterday where president Jesus Guerrero, vice president Yoichi Matsumura, and officers Mario Espeleta and Bea Quitugua received $2,000 from the company’s industrial and wholesale territory manager Lucas Salii.
In a letter from Mobil public relations manager Cecile Bamba Suda, the company expressed its pleasure in donating the money to SAIWAI.
“Mobil is pleased to provide a sponsorship at a level of $2,000 for this year’s program [s]. We hope our support will assist the Saipan Walking Association, Inc. achieve its goal,” she said.
Guerrero thanked Salii, Suda, and Mobil for the donation and expressed hope that despite the tough economic times, the company will continue to support SAIWAI and its programs.
Matsumura seconded Guerrero when the Pacific Development, Inc. executive said that SAIWAI is pretty happy with the $2,000 donation and that it will indeed go a long way in helping the walking club follow through with its goals for the year.
Espeleta, for his part, explained that the $2,000 donation will help defray the cost of holding SAIWAI events, especially the upcoming 5th Pan Pacific IVV Saipan Festival-Aqua Walk, which is set for sometime in July at the back of Townhouse and Aquarius.
Salii said he himself is looking forward to take part in the Aqua Walk and said he will try and convince other Mobil employees to support SAIWAI by joining the walking event.
Like all SAIWAI activities, IVV members will receive credit for joining the 5th Pan Pacific IVV Saipan Festival-Aqua Walk. The IVV has member walking clubs in the U.S., Canada, Brazil, Japan, South Korea, Turkey, Nepal, Australia, New Zealand, the CNMI, and 29 other European countries, including Germany.
