Trench Warz fans already itching for next edition
Over 600 screaming fans packed the Trench Tech Purebred Saipan Gym for Saturday night’s Trench Warz III: Commotion, and after all was said and done, the only thing to do now is wait for news of a fourth edition.
Many fans expressed that they will now await word of another no-holds barred mix martial arts event.
“That was really unexpected to see a fighter come in at the last minute…and that was really at the last minute,” said Trench Warz fan Ray Guerrero as he referred to Charleston Aiken stepping up to fight in the main event just minutes before the fight. “It’s like, we can never expect what’s going to happen, so we get all the action that we want, and even more.”
Guerrero was not the only one who believed he got his money’s worth as 28-year-old John Camacho also shared his feelings about the event.
“Two thumbs up for all those guys that made this happen,” he said. “I’ve watched this since the first one last year and I just want to see more. We even got fighters from Guam coming over now, so it’s starting to really get a lot more exciting because we get to see our local guys in action with guys from the outside.”
While waiting for the cars to clear out of the parking area after the event, Kagman resident J.J. Cruz, who witnessed the event with his friends, said the experience was “out of this world.”
“Man, we were just watching and not the ones fighting but it really got our adrenaline rushing,” he said. “The guys were radical in the cage and even those that lost, they still put up a good fight. I like this kind of events because there’s always action so it doesn’t get boring. It’s all good.”
One thing for sure, event coordinator Cuki Alvarez is planning on making Trench Warz grow. As reported earlier, Alvarez said the invitation to Guam fighters was just the beginning as he also intends to invite fighters from Hawaii, Japan, and the U.S. mainland in the future.
Next up for Trench Tech, though, is prepping its fighters for Fury VI as school instructor and professional veteran Tetsuji Kato, J.D. Reyes, and Danny Atalig will be making the trip to Guam for more action.
Kato will battle Toby Imada who is fighting out of grappling world champion Dean Lister’s camp, while Reyes will fight “Dynamite” David Pangelinan of Spike 22 and Atalig will face Justin Cruz, also of Spike 22.
Fury VI will be held on June 24 at the University of Guam Field House.
