Arnold gets highest honors from GCA
Some 19 graduates of the Grace Christian Academy High School gathered at the school’s auditorium for their commencement ceremony that honored top graduate Stephanie Arnold.
Arnold reminded her peers of the challenges they encountered in GCA. “We all have been through a lot this year. As we dream of tomorrow, let us not forget our dreams today…today we will see our dreams turn to reality,” she said.
Graduate Rika Matsumoto also shared the stage, presenting her personal testimony to her peers. “GCA has been my comfort zone, my second home,” she said. “As reality kicks in… really I’m scared to leave this school, my family, my island, my home.”
However, Matsumoto urged her peers to continue to work hard to achieve their dreams. “ I believe we are all valuable individuals… I hope your dreams take you to the corners of your smiles.”
“May today mark the beginning of new challenges and the continuation of all the achievements you’ve made,” she added.
Arnold was also recognized as GCA’s most valuable player due to her participation in the school’s basketball and volleyball teams.
Graduating with the second highest honors was Da Som No, who received the salutatorian award.
Also graduating with honors were first honorable mention Andrea Hofschneider, second honorable mention Sara Ko, and third honorable mention Christina Kinsella.
The graduates were also presented the Academic Achievement Award, Perfect Attendance Award, Loyalty Award, Sports Award, Character Award, Citizenship Award, and Bible Award, among others. (Cassie Dlg Fejeran)
