They are all special and precious but on Tuesday evening, two of them stood out from the rest—Angeline Sahagun and Mary Lyn Waing, who are this year’s Garapan Elementary School’s valedictorian and salutatorian, respectively.

Sahagun was awarded the Commissioner’s Award while Waing got the Principal’s Award.

The two emerged as the top graduates out of 118 sixth grade students during their recognition ceremony at the GES compound Tuesday evening. Other awards conferred to students included recognition certificates, Presidential Excellence, Top Ten awards/STUCO/Girl Scout, and Most Outstanding Mallard Award.

Proud parents and guardians, and lawmakers graced the evening event that also saw the promotion of scores of Mallards from grades 1-5 to their next grade levels.

The ceremony was headed by GES principal Yvonne Reyes-Gomez. Associate commissioner David Borja represented the Public School System at the ceremony. Teacher of the Year Paulette Tomokane rendered the closing remarks.
