Kitz also shines in May Masters
Aside from giving 2006 May Masters champion Robert Talavera his lucky ball, Kitz Barja also had a lot of things working for him during the 24th May Masters Tenpin Bowling Tournament this past weekend.
The general manager of Micronesian Brokers Inc. was the second-biggest winner in the men’s division by bagging the men’s all-events division.
The De La Salle University alumnus torched the competition in the category by rolling a second-best 645 pinfalls in the singles, 650 in the doubles, and 661 in the team division for an overall pinfall total of 1,956.
Finishing second in the all-events was Barja’s doubles partner John Eparwa, who knocked down a total of 1,879 pins in the three categories.
Talavera was third in the all-events with his 1,845, followed by youth kegler Raymond Angeles (1,830), southpaw Richard Leong (1,813), Edgar Talavera (1,796), Chester Bai (1,782), Dannie Robles (1,780), Alex Castro (1,778), and Rusty Musca (1,777).
Alex Cacdac won the singles crown after rolling 676 in three games, while Barja and Eparwa were champions in the doubles with an aggregate score of 1,314.
The team competition was won by the quartet of Robles, Eparwa, Raul Dumapit, and Ronald Epan who between them toppled 2,486 pins.
The yearly May Masters tournament is organized by the Saipan Bowling Association and was sponsored by MARPAC, exclusive distributor of Budweiser; JET Holdings; Saipan Bowling Center; Saipan Grand Hotel; Pacific Telecom, Inc.; Marianas Visitors Authority; and SBA president Jerry Tan.
MARPAC and JET Holdings are the year’s biggest sponsors having graciously donated a total of $3,500 for the tournament.
