CNMI National Men’s Golf Team member Joe “Kamikaze” Camacho added another feather in his cap by winning the Championship Flight of the 12th Annual San Roque Golf Tournament held last Sunday at the Mariana Country Club Golf Resort in Marpi.

Camacho carded a gross score of 70 after needing a mere 34 shots in the front and 36 more in the back to complete the 18 holes of golf.

The Commonwealth Utilities Corp. employee and 2004 Johnny Walker Classic participant birdied five holes—3rd, 4th, 6th, 9th, and 13th—to more than make up for a bogey in the 7th hole and a double bogey in the 17th.

Retired presiding judge Edward Manibusan finished four strokes behind the many time national team campaigner with his 74 after taming the greens and fairways with a 36 in the first nine holes and 38 in the last nine.

Division of Sports and Recreation Joe Lizama came in third in the Championship Flight after shooting a 36 in the front and a 39 in the back.

A Flight was ruled by Manny Tenorio after winding up with a gross score of 75. He was followed by two Sablans—Frank and Joseph—who fired 76 and 77, respectively.

Fil-Taga Golfers Association striker Gill Faler topped B Flight after registering an 84. He was followed by Ben Aldan, who had an 87, and Ray Salas, who came away with a 92.

Norbert Sablan was numero uno in C Flight following a score of 90 with YCO Corp.’s Jesse Yumul finishing in second with a 92 and Walter Macaranas at third with a 93.

Terry Tudela, Shirley Jones, and Doll Yamagishi all finished with identical 97s in Ladies Flight, but Tudela bagged first place via scorecard tiebreak with Jones settling for second and Yamagishi coming in third.

Joe Sablan was without peer in the Senior’s Flight after swinging for a 74, followed by Greg Sablan (79), and Marianas Variety publisher Abed Younis (87).
