With just a handful of weeks remaining before the region’s finest athletes compete in the 2006 Micronesian Games, local sponsorships continue to pour in as Coca-Cola Beverage Company (Micronesia), Inc, distributors of Dasani in the CNMI, announced its two-year partnership with the Saipan Swim Club.

While the swimmers were toiling in Marpi, Coca-Cola Micronesia sales and marketing director Kathryn Barry stopped by the Kan Pacific Swimming Pool to give the team a boost in person.

“Coca-Cola is proud of its continued support of athletics in the CNMI. The CNMI National Swim Team is ready to bring home the gold next month and we are excited to be able to help them,” said Barry.

SSC head coach Michael Stewart was happy to secure the sponsorship and said that he has enjoyed the continued support for his swimmers while training for international events around the planet.

“The Saipan Swim Club is delighted to become partners with Coca-Cola Micronesia and Dasani for the coming years. This partnership will help our CNMI swimmers successfully compete not only in Micronesia, but also in Oceania, and around the world,” he said.

In addition to sponsoring the SSC as a whole, Coca-Cola will also be supporting the 4th Annual Escape from Managaha Island Swim this Saturday, June 3, when swimmers test the nearly 3-kilometer stretch of water between Saipan and its closest neighbor at 8am.

Organizers are expecting a field of 50 swimmers, including Stewart, who plans on towing a kayak with two lucky passengers before reaching Micro Beach to treat them with a BBQ featuring his now “famous” chicken.
