Fighter nabbed for beating up man
A heavyweight Trench Tech street fighter was arrested for allegedly knocking down a man, beating him up and assaulting him with a rock in Chalan LauLau.
Police served the arrest warrant Monday on 30-year-old Antonio Wabol Nekaifes, also known as Xcalibur, on charges of assault with a dangerous weapon, assault and battery, and disturbing the peace.
Nekaifes was taken to the Superior Court yesterday for a bail hearing. Associate Judge Ramona V. Manglona imposed a $25,000 cash bail for the defendant’s temporary release.
According to a police report, shortly after the incident happened on May 15 at 11:46pm, police arrested Nekaifes, along with his companion, Andave Camacho Marchadesch, and the victim’s companion, Ronald Delos Santos Postrado.
The victim, Constantino Ferrera Primo Jr., suffered multiple injuries to the face and body.
Police investigation showed that prior to the attack, Primo and Postrado were on their way home from Susupe and had parked their car near the former Covenant Party headquarters in Chalan Laulau.
A pickup truck pulled up behind the car. Nekaifes and Marchadesch got down from the truck, while Primo and Postrado also alighted from the car.
Primo asked why they were blocking the road. Nekaifes, however, allegedly suddenly attacked Primo and struck him with a rock on the face. Primo became unconscious (He was later revived at the Commonwealth Health Center.).
Postrado ran away, but Marchadesch chased him. Postrado later returned wielding a machete.
A passing police officer noticed the commotion. Postrado dropped the machete and was placed under arrest.
Two other responding police officers then arrested Nekaifes and Marchadesch in the area.
Nekaifes and Marcadesch told police that they were drinking at a barracks in Navy Hill prior to the incident.
