Members of the Karidat Social Service Teen Center raised a total of $120 from last Saturday’s Suds for Funds car wash event held at Shell’s Susupe station. The money will be used to buy materials for the teens’ summer outreach program.

“It was great. It was very helpful. We started out with nothing. Now we can buy the materials that we need. We are very thankful to Shell and Coke,” Caroline S. Masga, the group’s spokesperson.

Shell Marianas, Coca-Cola Beverage Company (Micronesia), Inc. and Beach Rd. magazine are sponsors of the Suds for Funds car wash program. Shell designated the station and provided cleaning materials while CCBC Micronesia provided drinks to participants.

Suds for Funds car wash are held every month to help community-based groups raise funds for their projects and programs.

Organizations who had participated in the Suds for Funds car wash program were the Inatuas Cultural Dancers, Inc., Kagman High School seniors, Dan Dan Elementary School students, Glushko’s Academy of Performing Arts, Saipan Gospel Revival (Youth), Marianas High School Law Enforcement Explorers, the Penina Ole Vasa Polynesian Dance Group, the CNMI Volunteer Firefighters, and House of Manhoben.

The next Shell Suds for Funds event is scheduled for June 24 at Shell’s Dan Dan station. Interested parties may get in touch with the station’s supervisor, Carmela Palijo at 322-4189 or 234-7190. Shell would like to encourage Suds for Funds beneficiaries to pre-sell car wash tickets for better results. (PR)
