The third of four sets of computer stolen from the law office of attorney Bruce Berline was recovered yesterday after one suspect admitted to have committed the burglary and led a private criminal investigator to the buyer.

Two police detectives responded to Berline’s law office yesterday noon and conducted the investigation against suspect Kevin Paulino, 26, and two Chinese men said to have been the buyers.

Saipan Tribune learned that the computer set that was recovered yesterday actually belonged to attorney William Fitzgerald.

The two computer that were found Friday at an Internet establishment in western Garapan were owned by Berline and attorney Mark Hanson.

Fitzgerald, Berline, and Hanson occupy offices at the same Macaranas building in western Garapan.

Berline said his personal computer was stolen last Wednesday, while three other sets of computer were carted away during a burglary on May 7, 2006.

Berline said they hired the Guam-based private investigator, Marianas Investigation Services, which quickly solved the two burglaries.

Paulino said he was only responsible for Wednesday’s break-in. He said that when the private investigator went to his house Sunday, he immediately confessed and identified the buyer.

Paulino said he sold the computer to a Chinese man for $300 and that he used the money for the repair of his car. He said he was drunk at the time and that it was his first time.

Berline stated that they have already identified the other people involved in the burglaries and the buyers of the stolen computers.

“We are going to fight back. We’re not just got to sit back,” said Berline, stressing that they are going to slap a civil lawsuit and make sure that the persons behind these will be criminally prosecuted and if possible deported from the CNMI.

The burglar or burglars carted away four full sets of computer and scanners with a total value of over $10,000 in the two incidents, Berline told the Saipan Tribune Wednesday.
