Man who hits girlfriend with beer can signs plea bargain
A man accused of striking his girlfriend with a beer can she was holding has entered a plea agreement with the government.
Leoncio Iskawa was set to change his plea Friday, but the Superior Court continued the hearing to Thursday.
The court ordered the 41-year-old Iskawa to appear in court at the hearing.
The defendant and the prosecution signed a plea agreement. The court will either reject or accept the agreement depending on its terms and conditions.
According to court papers, the victim suffered a bruise from a cut on her nose, and a cut to her eyelid.
Police said that on Jan. 15, 2006 at 10:30pm, the victim arrived at their residence after she stayed at her relative’s house for a few days because of their previous argument.
While the victim was drinking beer, Iskawa hit the beer can, causing it to hit her face.
The victim dialed the telephone to call the police, but the defendant broke the telephone line.
The victim told police that it was the third time that the defendant beat her up.
Iskawa was charged with assault and battery, and interfering with a domestic report.
Meanwhile, the court has clarified that William Wanket, a man sentenced to five years in prison for sexually abusing a minor girl, is 21 years old and not 57.
