Wearing island attire, 14 Kindergarten pupils of the Saipan Community School fidgeted and laughed their way through a graduation ceremony that featured a slide show of several activities they participated in throughout the school year.

Held at the Saipan Community School’s chapel yesterday morning, the ceremony was as much an occasion for the proud parents as it was for the children, with many lugging video cameras and still cameras to record the event for posterity.

SCS teacher Sarah Helbert was in the thick of it all, from the setting up of the audio-visual presentation, to acting as the emcee of yesterday’s graduation. She said she is happy that the pupils made it through the year, a year that she described as “awesome” for everyone.

The children particularly enjoyed the slide presentation, their self-awareness prompting loud bursts of laughter whenever they saw themselves or their classmates on the screen.
