Each of the three teams from Marianas High School are officially assured of a win this season as the Dolphin delegation’s final squad emerged victorious on Thursday night during the 7th Annual Spring Co-ed Four’s Beach Volleyball League at the Pacific Islands Club.

The same may not be said for the hometown team as the all-Clubmate Last Call squad languishes alone in the land of losers at 0-5 despite the cheery upbeat players led by cagey veteran Evan Hunsberger.

MHS Dolphin Splashers 2, MHS Dolphin Divers 1

The Splashers became the final scholastic team to win a game this season as the students overcame their classmates on Thursday in spirited action at the PIC. The MHS Dolphin Divers looked as if their second win was all but assured after smoking the Splashers 11-6 to take the opening set, but the advantage didn’t last long.

The Splashers quickly turned the tables with an 11-5 win in the second to even the match at a set apiece and followed with a thrilling 11-7 win in the clincher to bag their virgin win.

The Splashers return to action next Tuesday, May 23, when they face Sand In My Pants (3-1) at 6:30, while the Divers challenge the Leapers (2-3) earlier that night at 5:30pm

Lite U Up 3, MHS Dolphin Leapers 0

Lite U Up became the first team to reach the four-win mark on Thursday night as the powerful squad of bumpers, setters, and spikers laid the hammer down on the MHS Dolphin Leapers.

Linda Anastacio’s team of thumpers lit up the Leapers in straight sets by a combined score of 33-4 and maintained their position as the league’s highest scorers (132) and as the least scored upon (27). The closest team in the scoring race is more than a full set win behind, while the second place Ying Yang Clan (3-0) have allowed 15 more points with one less game played.

The Leapers take on their Divers (1-4) classmates at 5:30pm next Tuesday, May 23, while Lite U Up returns for a power packed match-up with Chafed Grundle (3-1) next Thursday, May 25, at 6:30pm.

Sand In My Pants 2, Dirk Digglers 1

After securing a big win last week, Sandra Arnold’s team bounced back from an early setback once again to take the final pair of sets and kicked the Dirk Digglers to the curb on Thursday night.

A narrow 12-10 loss in the opener sparked the Sand In My Pants fire as they scored back-to-back 11-6 set wins to keep their place in the third place race among the three-team logjam near the top of the standings.

The Sandies look to break free from the pack and sink the Slapshers next Tuesday, May 23, at 6:30pm, while the Dirk Digglers look to snap their three-game losing streak against Victoria’s Secret (2-2) an hour later at 7:30pm.

Chafed Grundle 2, Victoria’s Secret 1

With their team captain still suffering the ill-effects of a nuclear-charged taco, the stars of Chafed Grundle dispelled Victoria’s Secret on Thursday by taking all three of the most hotly contested sets of the night.

None of Chafed Grundle’s three wins have come easy and Warwick “Not So” knew all too well that Victoria was not about to give away her Secret without a fight. After escaping with an 11-9 win in the first set, the Grundle clinched the victory with an 11-5 score in the second.

The race for the final 11 points was as fierce as the first, but the outcome was the same as the Chafed chaps reached for the broom to sweep the Secret under the rug with a 13-11 score.

Victoria’s Secret searches for another win on Tuesday, May 23, when they face Just Put It In at 7:30pm, while the Grundle bundle takes aim at “Chair Man” Max Kuan’s Ying Yang Clan in the 8:30pm finale.
