Eighteen residents of the U.S.-affiliated Pacific have been selected to attend the 2006 Pacific Library Training Institute in Honolulu, Hawaii.

The PLTI, funded by the U.S. Institute of Museum and Library Services and organized by Pacific Resources for Education and Learning, will take place from June 7-29, 2006, at the University of Hawaii at Manoa. Further training will take place in 2007 and 2008.

By providing professional development to this group, all of whom are pre-professional staff working in libraries in their home jurisdictions, the PLTI seeks to improve library services across the region.

Following is a list of attendees: Nathaidia Moeai and Pauline Toluao from American Samoa; Kersweet Eria and Lynn Sipenuk from Chuuk; Erlinda Naputi and Gregorio Sablan from the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands; Walfrid Benavente and Jason Datuin from Guam; Romeo Aliksa and Shra Renton from Kosrae; Lester Ezekias, Atarino Helieisar, and Bruce Robert from Pohnpei; Lisa Jeraan from the Republic of the Marshall Islands; Grace Merong and Bedebii Sadang from the Republic of Palau; and Isabel Rungrad and Helen Salap from Yap.
