NYBA names regular season leaders

Garapan Rollers players swept the regular season most valuable player plums of all three divisions of the 2006 Northern Youth Basketball Association.

Garapan Rollers III’s Robert Naraja won the MVP of the 16-and-under age group after firing 36 points, hauling down the same number of rebounds, dishing off 12 dimes, stealing the ball 14 times, and blocking two shots.

G-Rollers I teammates Keone Chariton and Joemary Tumaquip won the next best awards of the division after copping the offensive player and defensive player plums. Chariton scored 102 points and dished off 25 points during the regular season, while Tumaquip was good for 37 steals, 21 rebounds, and five blocks.

Topping the rebounding the department, meanwhile, was G-Rollers II slotman Don Teregeyo (45), followed by teammate Fred Litulimar (43), and Naraja (36).

Tumaquip was first in assists after totaling 27 dimes, followed by Chariton (25), and G-Rollers II’s Jericho Cruz (17).

Jayvon Tarkong of G-Rollers I topped the blocks department with 13, while teammate Jonathan Ada and G-Rollers II’s Bill Babauta obliterated 11 and nine, respectively.

Winning the MVP honors in the 14-and-under division was Derrick Abraham of G-Rollers II after he put together a 29-rebound, 15-steal, 11-point, five-assist, and three-block season.

Abraham was also named defensive player, while Jason Palacios of G-Rollers II got the nod for the offensive player award following a 25-point and 22-assist season.

Joemar Danas of G-Rollers II was numero uno in the caroms department after collaring 44 followed by Abraham (29), and Manhoeben Saints’ Nick Reyes (23).

Assists was topped by Palacios (22), G-Rollers I’s Zack Tudela (seven), and Saints’ Nicko Masga (6), while G-Rollers II’s Mike Bondoc (22), Abraham (15), and Tudela were the leaders in steals.

Danas had eight blocks for the season to win the department followed by Matansa Sparks’ Mart Sablan (five) and Abraham (three).

Joining Naraja and Abraham in the MVP circle was Edward Manalili after he poured in 26 points, hauled down 16 rebounds, swiped the ball 10 times, and swatted it thrice while playing for G-Rollers II.

He also won the defensive player award for his prowess in clamping down on the opposing team’s scorers, while Jacob Palacios of G-Rollers II took the offensive player award following a 10-point, 10-assist season.

Genesis Mamaril of G-Rollers I was the top rebounder with 18, followed by Manali (16), and G-Rollers I’s Lawrence Deleon Guerrero.

Assists was the realm of Palacios (10) and seconded by G-Rollers I’s Mike Moran (seven) and G-Rollers II’s Kaylani Lebria (six).

G-Rollers II’s David Diaz had the most heists with 18, while teammates Mik Basilio and Manalili came next with 12 and 10, respectively.

Manalili added the top shot blocker to his resume after swatting away three, while Deleon Guerrero and Diaz had three among themselves.
