The 2006 Restaurant Basketball League may have not have an opening date yet but eight teams are already gearing up for the competition.

According to league co-coordinator Jake Villanueva, four more teams have signified their intention to participate in the league, namely Keeraku, Round Two, Herman’s Bakery, and Abyss.

Defending champion Capricciosa, Country House, Naked Fish, and Shirley’s Coffee Shop earlier announced their intention to join the competition, dubbed Midnight League because of the wee hours of the evening games end.

The restaurant cage league will be played on Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday nights beginning at 10:30pm.

The regular season would feature a single round-robin format. Throughout the regular season, best player awards will be presented to the top performer of the winning teams and like its inaugural season, 3-point shootouts will be held during halftime.

Organizers also reminded teams that only employees of businesses joining the resto league are allowed to suit up for their respective teams.

Teams, however, are allowed to recruit an “import” provided the player is not currently a member of the CNMI National Basketball Team.

The 2006 Inter-Restaurant Basketball League is once again being sponsored by Triple J Five Star Wholesale and interested teams must fork over a $600 entrance fee to participate.
