San Antonio, Koblerville impressive
San Antonio and Koblerville elementary schools had big performances in Saturday’s 2006 McDonald’s All Schools Track and Field Championships.
The San Antonio boys dominated and won the team competition in the 11-and-under category with a total of 75 points, while the Koblerville girls were just as impressive as they won with 58 points.
The Koblerville boys placed second with 47 points, while Garapan Elementary School took third with 43 points.
For their part, the San Antonio girls won second place with 49 points, while Grace Christian Academy, despite having just two athletes, won third place with 40 points.
Spearheading the Koblerville girls’ push was Reylynn Sapong, who yesterday named one of the four most outstanding athletes of the meet. Sapong won the 100m, 200m, 400m, and was part of the girls’ gold medal winning 4X100m relay team.
Taking silver and bronze in the 100m were Chiang Duenas of San Antonio (15.23) and Lia Rangamar of GCA (15.36).
Rangamar took silver in the 200m (31.24) while San Antonio’s Sarah Aldan placed third (32.50) before Rangamar scored another silver in the 400m race in 1:12.67. The bronze went to Ilia Corella of Whispering Palms School (1:18.51).
Rangamar was able to strike gold in the long jump (3.61m) while Amber Roberts of Whispering Palms School (3.33m) and Roxanne Suda of Garapan (3.06m) followed.
Liane Riley was the top winner in the 800m race with a time of 3:08.72, while Remmy Madrio (3:20.50) and Young Chae Han (3:21.14) of San Vicente placed second and third.
Riley was again on top of the competition in the 1,500m event as she finished in 6:25.62. GCA’s Kahra Atalig (8:41.82) and Nicole Beltran of Koblerville (8:55.98) won silver and bronze.
The softball throw was won by Roxanne Duenas of San Antonio (35.38m) while Lorraine Haddy of Tanapag (35.34m) and Roberts (32.43m) followed.
The boys’ corner featured Brandon Phillip of Koblerville (15.54) taking gold in the 100m, while Nevin Salem of San Antonio (15.60) and Poland Masaharu of Dandan Elementary School (15.81) won silver and bronze.
Joemar Tadifa of San Antonio (30.94), Stacy Escueta of Garapan (32.10), and Jaythan Camacho of San Antonio (32.82) topped the 200m, while Ryan Baron of WPS (1:11.83), Escueta (1:11.87), and Tadifa (1:13.70) won the 400m.
Baron was also the gold medal winner in the 1,500m race in a time of 5:51.84 while Angel Iglecias (5:59.61) and Jeff Lizama (6:31.11) of Koblerville followed.
Michal Ito of San Antonio (3:14.83) was the top performer in the 800m race, followed by Kevin Aughenbaugh of Garapan (3:15.77) and Herman Guerrero of San Vicente (3:22.13).
Frankie Camacho of San Vicente (3.42m), Gordon Salas of San Antonio (3.32m), and Larry Norita of Tanapag (3.31m) won the long jump while Sonny Uli of San Antonio (35.56m), Masaharu (35.52m), and Emilio of Tanapag (35m) won the softball throw.
