A security guard has asked the CNMI Department of Labor to initiate an investigation against his former employer for allegedly engaging in illegal deduction of tax from the employees and not remitting the tax to the government.

Amante C. Collo, in a complaint filed before Labor, said he had already brought up the problem with his then employer, Sali Security Services, but he was ignored.

Collo said he is concerned about the alleged unlawful actions being taken by the company because it is cheating the CNMI government.

The complainant said he was a patrol supervisor of Sali Security Services owned by Lheng Sali and Carrie Camacho Sali from Nov. 16, 2000 up to March 30, 2006.

Collo alleged that his employer deducted tax from his extra overtime hours for several years.

He said his employer remitted only 80 hours of his regular salary to the government as indicated in the tax forms.

The complainant said that when he confronted his employer, he was told that there was nothing illegal in their actions. He also alleged that he found other discrepancies in his tax forms.

In March 2006, Collo filed a lawsuit in federal court against the security agency for alleged failure to pay his overtime and for breach of contract.

The defendants denied the charges.
