The growing Garapan Rollers family had a successful weekend on the hard court of the Gilbert C. Ada Gymnasium, with two of its three teams picking up victories in the ongoing NYBA cage league yesterday.

Cagers of the third team had nothing to be upset about with their loss as it came at the hands of its sister-team.

In Division II competition, the G-Rollers II had six players score in double figures to defeat their younger sister-team G-Rollers III, 97-45.

The older and more experienced G-II boys showed no mercy and dominated from the start as the team broke loose and exploded with a furious offensive charge. Cage belle Trishia Catalla showed she has what it takes to play with the boys as she and standout Jericho Cruz worked their way for 10 points apiece, and saw their team head into the break ahead by miles, 54-15.

G-III refused to throw in the towel and tried to do better in the second half. Zack Tudela sizzled for nine points and Tom Pangelinan and Rodney Salas pumped in seven and four points to spearhead a 30-point push, but the G-II power was just too strong as the team strolled with no trouble for the 52-point victory margin.

Steve Tellei and Cruz led G-II with 16 and 15 points, while Catalla and Jesse Villanueva contributed 14 points apiece. Fred Litulumar and Don Teregeyo also had solid outings with 10 points apiece.

Tudela and Tom Kim paced G-III with 15 and 10 points.

The G-Rollers I were also dominant in their 16-and-under bout against the House of Manhoben Saints and scored an easy 93-50 victory.

G-I was quick to grab the advantage as Kagman High School student Allen Moses waxed hot from the field and scored 12 straight points after cage belle Marlene Agbanlog pumped in a point to start off the G-I charge.

Moses hit three free throws and a triple before the half was over, and his team was already up by 21 points, 47-26.

Jayvon Tarkong picked up where Moses left off and after Keoni Chariton connected for the team’s first bucket of the half, Tarkong went off for eight straight points. Vince Teregeyo also hit all of his 10 points in the half, and it was cruise control for the Garapan-based team until the game was over.

Moses finished with a game-high 25 points, while Chariton and Tarkong added 15 and 14 points.

Lambert Reyes led the Saints with 10 points.

The younger Manhoben Saints were victorious after winning via forfeit over the Matansa Sparks.
