The Saipan Health Clinic in Chalan Kiya, Saipan, recently acquired 15 units of dialysis equipment that are now ready for use.

The clinic’s staff members have worked hard for the past 14 months in preparation for the delivery of the machines, to obtain the necessary training to operate the units.

Last week, technicians from the manufacturer visited the island and familiarized the clinic’s staff with the new units.

The manufacturer provided the clinic with its most recent model, Gambro Phoenix.

One of the first patients now undergoing treatment at Saipan Health Clinic is Toshiaki Aruga, a 58-year-old Japanese who is visiting Saipan with his wife on a nine-day schedule. Aruga has been a dialysis patient for 17 years.

The arrangement for his three-session treatment at the clinic was made by Dialysis Patient Overseas Travel Support Group, a non-profit organization backed up by National Tours travel agency, Osaka, Japan.

He will be further treated at the clinic on Wednesday and Friday this week, 7am to noon.
