The Ol’Aces put on a show in the opening of the 2006 BANMI Women’s Basketball League Saturday afternoon at the Gilbert C. Ada Gymnasium, blowing past the Garapan Rollers, 88-29.

It was no surprise that the Ol’Aces cage belles were going to dominate, as it is comprised of players training in preparation for the CNMI in the upcoming 6th Micronesian Games.

The Ol’Aces were running and gunning in the opening quarter and put on a 10-minute lesson as Chelsea Ruluked and Beverly Igitol went off for nine and eight points and the entire crew played tough defense for a commanding 30-2 run.

The younger G-Rollers team never gave up, though, and began to play better in the second period as Trishia Catalla helped the team put up a better offensive performance.

Catalla, Vanessa Diaz, and Nicole Lebria, who are also training as members of the National team, provided leadership for the G-Rollers, but the Ol’Aces were just too much.

Igitol nailed two bombs from long range and led all scorers with 26 points, while Ruluked and center Tanya Cabrera worked well for 16 and 13 points. Young gun Lia Rangamar also sizzled for 12 points, while Arcy Moncrief finished with 10 points.

Diaz and Catalla led the G-Rollers with 10 and seven points while Noelle Calvo, who earlier in the day suited up for the team in the IVYBL title victory, contributed six points.

Other teams in the WBL include the Saipan Southern High School Lady Rays and Southern.

Ol’Aces 88 – Igitol 26, Ruluked 16, Cabrera 13, Rangamar 12, Moncrief 10, Ngirchongor 8, Eva 2.

G-Rollers 29 – Diaz 10, Catalla 7, Calvo 6, Agbanlog 2, N. Lebria 2.
