All slots filled for NMC Foundation Open

All 150 slots available for the 4th Annual NMC Foundation Open are already occupied as players on- and off-island quickly registered for tomorrow’s event.

This according to tournament organizers, who disclosed yesterday that registration for the tournament is already closed and all that remains is a day of competition and fun on the Laolao Bay Golf Resort west course, as well as an awards banquet after the competition.

Action is scheduled to get underway with shotgun starts for all flights set for 7am.

As reported earlier, the tournament will feature competition in six flights—Championship, A, B, C, Women’s, and Seniors.

Each of the top three finishers in each flight will be awarded with cash and a trophy. All first place winners will earn $500 plus a roundtrip ticket to anywhere Continental Micronesian flies except Honolulu and Narita. Runners-up will have an extra $300 in their pockets, while third place winners will receive $200.

Leading up to the tournament, organizers have been working hard on attracting support from the government and private sector.

After securing support from a large list of businesses, organizers were able to spice up the list of prizes, most especially for the hole-in-one challenges.

Players who are able to put on the right touch and sink their ball with just one swing on the par-three holes have an opportunity to drive away $25,000 richer and on a new vehicle.

Triple J Motors has donated a 2006 Hyundai Accent for hole No. 3, Microl-Toyota threw in a 2007 Toyota Camry for hole No. 13, and Joeten Motors contributed a 2006 Honda Civic for hole No. 17. Bank of Hawaii and Aon Insurance contributed $25,000 apiece, PACSPORTS has donated a club cart, and Caronel Watch Center contributed an ORIS watch valued at $1,500.

If not won on the course challenges, the watch, as well as a bunch of prizes, will still be up for grabs in a raffle drawing during the awards banquet.
