Players rally for Faheem’s farewell
It’s been a while since the top local teams donned the board shorts for any serious competition, but now the kings and queens of the beach have a chance to bump, set, and spike on the Garapan sand for the Bon Voyage Beach Volleyball Tournament.
In light of Club Elan manager Faheem Ebrahim’s imminent departure from Saipan, Hyatt Regency Saipan has assembled a three-on-three co-ed beach volleyball tournament to give him one last chance at going out on top this Sunday, April 23.
The plan is for teams to be formed prior to registration, but organizers will play the part of match makers for those who wander in solo. Teams are limited to no more than four players and registration gets started at 9:15am with the opening serve crossing the net promptly at 9:45am.
“Get your boardies on and hop on down because it’s my last weekend in town and I’m bringing my A-Game,” said Ebrahim.
The cost to register for a chance to spike on Ebrahim in his Saipan swan song is $10 per player and includes fruit, juice, sushi rolls, chips, salsa, access to Club Elan, and a weekend’s worth of volleyball crammed into one day at the beach.
There are also lunches, brunches, and possibly a room night up for grabs for the tournament’s most valuable player. For more information, contact Ebrahim by calling 234-1234 ext. 25. (Brad E. Ruszala)
