Trench Warz III to serve as Micro Games fundraiser
As reported earlier, Trench Tech-Purebred Saipan is currently organizing another mix martial arts fighting event next month.
Dubbed as Trench Warz III: Commotion, the event will not only provide spectators another opportunity to witness close hand fighters showcase their skills and toughness in “The Trench”—a rectangular shaped cage—but all will be able to support the 6th Micronesian Games this summer as well.
According to Trench Warz coordinator Cuki Alvarez, tickets for the event will be sold for $20 instead of $15 like the first two Trench Warz.
“We’re trying to help out for the Micro Games,” Alvarez said. “The reason why we raised the price is because part of that will be contributed to the CNMI wrestling team headed by our coach Joe Ocampo.”
Alvarez, who will also be competing in the Micro Games, said members of the CNMI wrestling train at the Trench Tech-Purebred Saipan Gym behind Moylans Insurance in Garapan.
In addition to the ticket sales, Alvarez said proceeds from all beverages and food sold during the event will be donated to the Micronesian Games Organizing Committee.
“We’re just looking to helping out and lending a hand,” Alvarez said.
Trench Warz III: Commotion will be held on May 27 at the school’s gym.
Fighters willing to showcase their mix martial arts skills can still sign up and put their skills and toughness to the test. Deadline to sign up is May 20.
The featured fights will be boxing, submission wrestling, no-hold-barred and full-contact matches, which could go up to more than 16 contests.
Already set is the main event, which will feature Slade “Rage” Adelbai—formerly known as the Palauan Phenom—and Quarter Master tough gun Jack Ruben.
Aside from Adelbai and Ruben, other standouts who are expected to be on the card are Frank “The Crank” Camacho, Trench II main event winner Jason Tarkong, and hard-hitting Kelvin Fitial.
