The Division of Immigration has sought the deportation of a Bangladeshi who has been allegedly overstaying in the CNMI for more than four years now.

Immigration investigator John Peter said Osman Gani, 34, is a deportable alien because his renewal applications for an Immediate Relative status were never approved.

Superior Court Associate Judge David A. Wiseman ordered Gani to appear in court on May 4 at 1:30pm and explain why he should not be deported.

Peter said Gani was issued an IR entry permit on Jan. 1, 2001 and it expired on Dec. 6, 2001.

Peter said that on Dec. 21, 2001 and July 25, 2003 the respondent submitted renewal applications to renew his IR status but they were not approved.

No other renewal applications were submitted after 2003, the investigator said, adding that Gani does not have a pending Labor case.
