Telephone etiquette, ‘humanagement’ featured in upcoming SHRM meeting

Can you imagine working without a telephone? Can you imagine living without one? Of all communication devices we have today the telephone remains the form widely used for contacting the outside world. Yet telephone etiquette remains one of those things that people still need to learn for effective communication. This is particularly true for administrative professionals, who are usually on the front line of companies and government agencies.

This is where the Society for Human Resource Management comes in. With Administrative Professionals Day coming up, the Society will be meeting on Wednesday, April 26, 2006, at the Pacific Islands Club’s Charley’s Cabaret, during which there will be a presentation on effective communication and telephone etiquette and “Humanagement.” The event will also have a champagne toast saluting administrative professionals.

The Society has invited motivational speaker Dr. Peter C. Eche to speak on leadership, effective communication and telephone etiquette. Leadership will focus on the principle of “Humanagement.” Effective communication is the key to getting off to a good start of leadership with employees. Strong leadership cannot be accomplished without communication. There are ways of getting information absorbed and understood by the targeted audience.

Dr. Peter C. Eche, known as an expert on leadership, communicates his leadership principles to hundreds of people, providing creative solutions to various business concerns, adviser and consultant of various companies, politicians, and entrepreneurs. He has an outstanding record of success in the fields of general administration, strategic planning, marketing strategies, new market development, market research and forecasting, formulation and execution of policies and executions of sound financial management. A graduate of BS Pharmacy, MS Pharmacy and PhD Management, he is the author of the “You Shall Grow” program and is currently working on the book Evolution of Success. He was the executive vice president of the John F. Kennedy Center, established Legacy Institute, and is currently the president of World Pacific Center. He is also a special adviser for training in the CNMI government’s Office of Personnel Management.

All SHRM members and administrative professionals are urged to join their peers for this current and informative conference. Non-members in the business community, whether owners, managers or human resource professionals, are invited to learn more about the Society and to improve their human resource knowledge through the program.

The SHRM meeting will be on April 26, from 11am to 1pm, at PIC’s Charley’s Cabaret. The meeting will cost $20 for SHRM members and $25 non-SHRM members and includes lunch, presentation materials, and raffle prizes.

The Magellan Lunch Buffet will be special, featuring traditional salads terrines, homemade rolls, hot gourmet sandwiches, pan-fried salmon with dill mustard sauce, pasta Primavera, fresh fruits and assorted pastries. There will also be a fashion show featuring clothes from Papaya and raffle prizes.

The CNMI Chapter of the Society for Human Resource Management is the Commonwealth’s foremost professional forum for discussion and training in Human Resource matters. Recognized as a Superior Merit Chapter, the CNMI branch is composed of human resource professionals from a variety of industries, large and small, who recognize a need for a local society for professionals in the human resources field.
