English Placement Test set

The Northern Marianas College will once again administer an English Placement Test for the Summer Semester 2006 on May 15, 2006, at Room D-1, from 9am to noon.

Test-takers must bring a valid photo ID and pencils.

There is a $25 fee for the English Placement Test that must be paid in advance at NMC’s Finance Office (Monday-Friday, 9am-4pm).

Students will not be admitted to the testing room without proof of payment—a receipt for either the placement test fee or the NMC application fee. This $25 fee is applicable to the NMC application for all students.

Flame Tree Arts Festival on Apr. 27-30

The 25th Annual Flame Tree Arts Festival will be held at American Memorial Park from April 27 to 30

The deadline for high school students to submit entries for “Ebb and Flow: Tides of Culture” Pacific youth poetry and illustration project is April 2 at 4:30pm.

Income tax return filing deadline

Division of Revenue & Taxation is informing all CNMI residents that the deadline for tax filing of the 2005 Individual Income Tax Return is Monday, April 17, 2006 at the office of the Division of Revenue and Taxation located at the Joeten Dandan Commercial Center.

Their deadline hours for April 17, 2006 are from 7:30am to 10:30pm. (PR)

Any complaint about Community Reading Club?

The Attorney General’s Office wants to hear from all CNMI consumers who have been solicited by a company calling themselves Community Reading Club of Southern California. This company contacts consumers over the phone and tries to sell them magazine subscriptions. Often, the sales pitch involves an offer of a “free” gold watch with the placement of an order with this company, please call the Attorney General’s Office of Consumer Counsel at 664-2333. You may be entitled to a refund.

Free Praxis review

Any Public School System teacher who is interested in taking a free 40-hour review course to prepare for the PRAXIS II Examination in Social Studies: Content Knowledge, during the upcoming Easter break (April 10-15, 2006) may contact Vince Riley at 234-3856 (H), or 234-3690 Ext. 1733 (W), or email him at vriley2@yahoo.com.

This course will be sponsored by the Public School System, if sufficient enrollment (20 students) is reached. The instructor has received a Recognition of Excellence certificate from the Educational Testing Service for his performance in this exam, and is interested in helping others prepare for a successful exam. Memorial Day preparations

On May 29, 2006, Memorial Day, the CNMI will be paying tribute to members of the U.S. Armed Forces who have passed on.

This is to let all Memorial Day Committee members and all interested in being a part of the committee know that we will begin to meet every Tuesday at 9am at the Office of Military/Veterans Affairs on Capitol Hill building 1365. Everyone is encouraged and invited to attend.
