Coordinator Jojo Molar is requesting participating teams in the 2005 Inter-Restaurant Basketball League to inform him about the preferred dominant colors of their respective jerseys as soon as possible.

Molar made the request during an organizational meeting for the “Midnight League” held last Saturday at Capricciosa Restaurant in Garapan.

The Capricciosa employee said he wants team colors to be determined as soon as possible to avoid the confusion that transpired during the last season of the IRBL, when referees had trouble discerning competing teams from one another because of similar-colored uniforms.

Molar also disclosed that aside from the four confirmed teams—Capricciosa, Country House, Shirley’s Coffee Shop, and Naked Fish—five other companies have showed interest in joining the 2006 season of the IRBL.

He said LSG Sky Chefs, Chow Queen, Mary’s Restaurant, McDonald’s, and J’s Restaurant could push the number of teams participating in the 2006 season to nine.

Molar also said that teams that took part last season, Angel Wings and Keeraku Restaurant, are still welcome to join the competition.

To inform Molar about the participating teams’ jersey colors or intent in joining the league, call him at 233-9193 or 233-9194.

The restaurant cage league will be played on Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday nights beginning at 10:30pm.

The regular season would feature a single round-robin format. Throughout the regular season, best player awards will be presented to the top performer of the winning teams and like its inaugural season, 3-point shootouts will be held during halftime.

Organizers also reminded teams that only employees of businesses joining the resto league are allowed to suit up for their respective teams.

Teams, however, are allowed to recruit an “import” provided the player is not currently a member of the CNMI National Basketball Team.

The 2006 Inter-Restaurant Basketball League is once again being sponsored by Triple J Five Star Wholesale and interested teams must fork over a $600 entrance fee to participate.

For more information about the Midnight League, call Molar at the aforementioned numbers or call his co-coordinator Jake Villanueva at 233-1908/233-6961. (Mark Rabago)
