Officers and members of the Bayani Association, equipped with hand gloves, rakes and trash bags, collected 10 bags of trash from the San Antonio Beach Park and its shoreline on March 26. The cleanup started in the early morning and ended at 10am.

The group, headed by Bayani Association president Daniel Nicomedes, scoured the beach park and the shoreline toward the Pacific Islands Club beach side for scattered empty aluminum cans and bottles, used vehicle tires, vehicle iron parts, plastic paint pails, broken PVC pipes, wood scraps, used foil wrappers, plastic utensils, discarded batteries, and cardboards. The collected and segregated trash were brought to the Lower Base Waste Transfer Station on the morning of March 27.

Bayani Association’s cleanup is in line with the Saipan Chamber of Commerce’s “Cash for Trash Program.” Bayani Association has been involved in various beach cleanups to show its commitment to help preserve the island’s environment.
