A woman suffered multiple injuries after her husband beat her up and hit her with a rock and a rake’s handle as she was holding their one-month-old baby, according to court documents.

The victim sustained injuries to the face, scratches, and bruises to the forehead and left lower leg. Her left eye was swollen. Scars were also noted in her legs, according to court papers.

The defendant, Bonifacio M. Camacho, was arrested Tuesday afternoon for assault and battery, assault with a dangerous weapon, interference with a domestic violence report, and disturbing the peace.

The Superior Court yesterday imposed a $25,000 cash bail for Camacho’s temporary liberty.

Detective Christopher Leon Guerrero stated in his report that on March 31, 2006, between 2pm to 3pm, Camacho allegedly threw a rock at the victim’s back, grabbed and pulled her hair, hit her on the back of head with a rake’s stick handle and threatened to poke his wife’s eye with the rake. He also allegedly took a metal canister and hit her on the face with it twice, kicked her repeatedly on the legs, banged her head against the wall, and punched her on the mouth.

The wife reportedly tried to call 911 several times but the defendant would allegedly hang up the telephone. At one point during the beating, the baby bumped her head against the wall.

Later, the wife managed to run outside and proceeded to the road where she called family members for help. When she went back to the house, Camacho allegedly asked her to leave and he threw the baby’s things outside the house. The wife left with the child.

On Saturday, Camacho contacted the wife on the phone and asked for forgiveness. He threatened to kill her if she would not go back to their house, police said.
