The Garapan Rollers I simply cruised against sister team G-Rollers II and showed no mercy en route to a 44-23 victory in the ongoing 2006 Island-wide Village Youth Basketball League Wednesday evening at the Garapan Basketball Court.

G-I was actually given a good run until switching into serious mode in the second half for their sixth win in as many chances.

Josh Moses got off to a strong start and scored all but two of G-I’s eight points in the first quarter to help the team grab an 8-4 lead after one period of play.

The G-II crew wasn’t intimidated though and was determined to upset the elder Garapan cagers as Jason Palacios spearheaded an attack that kept the team within striking distance, 11-16, at the break.

Things took a big change as the second half got underway as cagebelle Nicole Lebria broke loose for eight points and the G-I crew lit up the scoreboard for 16 points, while limiting G-II to just four points for a comfortable 17-point lead, 32-15, with one quarter remaining.

G-I cooled off in the final minutes, but was still able to outscore their opponents to close with the 21-point victory margin.

Moses and J.R. Concepcion led G-I with 12 and 10 points, while Lebria and champ Untalan contributed eight points apiece.

Palacios and Mike Bondoc paced G-II with six points apiece.

G-I 44 – Moses 12, Concepcion 10, Lebria 8, Untalan 8, Deleon Guerrero 4, Nolsom 2.
G-II 23 – Palacios 6, Bondoc 6, Basilio 4, Lebria 4, Auellerio 2, Danas 1.
Scoring by quarters: 8-4, 16-11, 32-15, 44-23.
