The Superior Court yesterday convicted a teenager who damaged items in a store after the establishment refused to sell him liquor.

Associate Judge Juan T. Lizama accepted Greg L. Tebit’s plea of guilty to criminal mischief.

Following a plea agreement, Lizama sentenced the 19-year-old Tebit to 90 days in prison, all suspended. The judge placed the defendant on one year of probation and ordered him to pay $250 fine and $25 court assessment fee.

Tebit was required to perform 80 hours of community work service and write a letter of apology to the storeowner. He is prohibited from drinking any alcoholic beverages during his probation.

The Attorney General’s Office charged the defendant with criminal mischief and disturbing the peace. He signed a plea agreement.

Tebit had thrown a bottle of soju into the glass freezer at the Mom and Pop on Sept. 25, 2005, breaking the glass.

Tebit allegedly got mad after the store refused to sell him soju because it was already late at night. Abdulla Al Mamun owns the store.
