Ed “Doi” Tenorio’s qualifying score of net 66 fell by the wayside when Bill Kaipat bettered the mark by a stroke Sunday at the Laolao Bay Golf Resort east course.

Kaipat fired a net score of 65 after taming the greens and the fairways with a 38 on the front nine and 39 on the back for a gross score of 77, which minus his 12 handicap, gave him the score to beat in the monthly competition.

Alex Aquinigoc edged Sasaki Oliver for runner-up honors. Both duffers wound up with identical net scores of 68. Aquinigoc, however, had a better net score on the front nine, 31.5-33, to take second place.

The 15-handicap Aquinigoc came away with a 38 on the front and 45 on the back for a gross score of 83.

Oliver finished tied with the lowest gross score of the day with his two-under par 70 (34 in the front nine and 35 in the back nine).

Louie Pelisamen extricated himself from a stickier situation in the battle for fourth place, nipping Joe “Kamikaze” Camacho, his namesake Louie Tilipao, and youth golfer James Balajadia in a front nine net tiebreaker.

All four shot identical net scores of 69, but Pelisamen (front nine net score of 34) beat out Camacho (34.5), and Balajadia (35), Tilipao (39.5).

The rest of the players that swung their golf clubs Sunday, with their scores in parenthesis, were as follows: Gus Camacho (70 net); Jess Wabol (70); Joey Arriola (73); Adam Hardwick (74); Joe Wabol (75); Ed Tenorio (75); Sonny Flores (76); Mario Taitano (76); John Tagabuel (77); Jordan Kossam (78); Rex Palacios (79); and Reno Celis (86).
