Mendoza: They are locally made but some I got from Majuro, Marshall Islands.
ST: Why do you wear them?
Mendoza: I love to wear them especially on special occasions. I wear it as an art.
ST: How many necklaces do you have?
Mendoza: I have three. A few are from Saipan and given by my husband. One I got during last year’s Flame Tree Arts Fest.

Hamman: I’ve been wearing these kinds of necklaces since I was a little girl.
ST: Why do you wear them?
Hamman: Wearing them reminds me of the places I’ve been to and bring back memories from unique experiences.
ST: How many necklaces do you have?
Hamman: I have six or seven necklaces. Some I got in Bali, Indonesia. I have lost some of the necklaces already.

Hernandez: I got them all from the Philippines.
ST: Tell us more about your collection.
Hernandez: Most of them are made of wood and beads I got from the Cordillera, Baguio City, and Cebu City in the Philippines.
ST: Why do you collect them?
Hernandez: I love the ethnic style

Mack: I only have two. One, I wore when I became a special judge at the Superior Court.

Taitano: They look nice. They’re beautiful. It is such a beautiful reminder of the beautiful art of the Carolinians and the Chamorro.
ST: How did you collect these necklaces?
Taitano: My family gave me most of them.
