Department of Public Safety acting commissioner Ernest Williams has placed former acting police director Capt. Aniceto T. Ogumoro and his brother, former DPS shooting range master Ambrosio Ogumoro, under administrative suspension.

DPS spokesman Ken Concepcion said Williams ordered the suspension of the Ogumoro brothers until the cases against them are completed in court.

“They are not back at DPS,” Concepcion said in a telephone interview with the Saipan Tribune yesterday.

The spokesman said he has to check the commissioner as to when the suspension became effective, as well as other details.

Aniceto Ogumoro is charged with two counts of unlawful possession of a firearm, one count of possession of a weapon without proper registration, and one count of unlawful possession of ammunition.

Police said that, in a raid at Aniceto Ogumoro’s house on Feb. 6, 2006, they recovered three rifles and 25 boxes of ammunition.

Ambrosio Ogumoro is charged with assault and battery, unlawful possession of a firearm, and two counts of unlawful possession of ammunition.

The prosecution said Ambrosio Ogumoro beat up his wife and was found to illegally possess a gun and ammunitions.

The Ogumoro brothers pleaded not guilty.
