Sure Shots move ahead in Tapochao Division
Da Place Sure Shots opened up a one-game lead on erstwhile co-leader Round Two Hustlers in the continuation of the Budweiser SBA Open 8-Ball League Tapochao Division Tuesday night.
Taking on doormat USSP Fotten Palau at the USS Peleliu Club, Sure Shots took four of six games from the home team to improve its win-loss standing to 11-7, a game ahead of the Hustlers.
Giving Sure Shots the quadro victory were Luis Fajardo, Senen Pangilinan, Roman Rodriguez, and doubles team of Fajardo and Jojo Talibong. Fotten Palau’s twin wins came from R.E. Rengiil and his team-up with Taylor Watanabe. The loss dropped the USSP team in the bottom of the standings at 5-13.
The Hustlers, meanwhile, couldn’t keep pace with the Sure Shots at their home digs at Round Two Bar and Grill, as they got mired in a 3-3 tie with a resurgent USSP Dreams team, which tied them in the team standings at 10-8.
After opening with singles wins by Jerry Soriano and Mario Diola, the Hustlers only won one more time when Rowel Mariano got the better of Richard Celestino. Blowing great guns for Dreams were Marvin Cabo and the doubles teams of Rodel Dela Cruz and Jaypee Jose and Cabo and Edward Armia.
Over in the Banzai Division, VFW Fotten Gaga II and Wild Wild West continued to lord it over the six-team field with identical 12-6 records.
