10 Saipan students to fly for Sanpo-En trip today
Ten Saipan students are off to Japan today for the 2006 Sanpo-En Cultural Exchange Program from March 16 to March 22.
Saipan Mayor Juan B. Tudela and staff David Rosario will chaperone the students during the program. Tudela said the children would be going to different places in Nagano and Kyoto. He said the delegates would be paying courtesy visits to the mayors and governors of cities and prefectures in Japan.
The Saipan mayor clarified that the trip is being paid personally by the student’s parents and the accommodations would all be taken cared of by the organizing committee of Sanpo-En Cultural Exchange Program.
“This is an annual program usually held in February but his year due to hard times we decided to move it to this month,” said Tudela, adding that the event aims at fostering and strengthening relations between the CNMI and Japan.
Japanese Yuko K. Seman of A&Y Consulting Services will also join the CNMI delegation to the trip. Seman said part of the itinerary of the kids will be exposure trips to a potato factory, Sonobe Cultural Museum, Kyoto Animal Zoo, Biwaku Lake Museum, Enryaku-Ji Temple, Zenko-Ji Temple and Toei Movieland, among many others. The student delegates from Saipan are: Darislen Tesero, Leslie Nicole T. Elameto, Jennifer-Lynn Ludwig, Soo Ji Ha, Min Ji Han, Da Won Lee, Yongchan Jun, Hye Sun Kim, Lyre Vianka Johnson, and Suel-Ki Chang.
