Donors needed for SCC’s Cash for Trash program
The Saipan Chamber of Commerce’s popular Cash for Trash program is again in need of donations to support the program through 2006.
The Cash for Trash program gives a stipend to non-profit groups that perform a beach or roadside cleanup. Groups must sign up for the program at the office of the Saipan Chamber of Commerce, located in the Family Building on Garapan Street in Garapan.
Non-profit groups that apply to receive the $150 donation must clean a specified area, recycle glass and plastic, and dump all garbage at the transfer station. Groups document their work through photos and a short write-up.
The program is an excellent opportunity for businesses to support local groups and the island’s environment. After they donate to the Cash for Trash program, businesses that are approached by local groups for financial help can refer them to the Chamber of Commerce. The local group is able to earn money for activities while at the same time contributing to the beauty of Saipan.
Businesses that contribute to the Cash for Trash fund will be recognized through Chamber materials and press releases.
“If your business wants to support the island’s environment, helping to keep it tourist-friendly as well as resident-friendly, contact the Chamber office at 233-7150,” the group said in a statement. (PR)
