Garapan Rollers I took a share of the lead in the 2006 Inter-Village Youth Basketball League after routing Sparks, 59-12, in Saturday morning’s make-up game at the Gilbert C. Ada Gymnasium.

Last year’s runner-up team went to work early and took a 10-point lead, 14-4, after the first quarter.

G-Rollers I continued to roll in the second, scoring another 14 points, while limiting the debuting Sparks to just a deuce to enter the break on top by a whopping 22 points, 28-6.

There was no stopping the Garapan blitzkrieg in the third either, as the boys of coach Diaz blanked the Sparks and scored another 17 points to open up an insurmountable 45-6 advantage heading into the final eight minutes of the contest.

The Sparks showed some life in fourth quarter and “exploded” for six points—equivalent to their point total in the first three quarters—but still finished the game on the ugly end of a 47-point shellacking.

Champ Untalan and cage belle Nicole Lebria topscored for G-Rollers with 10 points apiece, while Dave Jones led Sparks with his four points.

On Monday, Sixers II doubled up on G-Rollers II and won its second game in three starts, 38-19, at the Garapan Basketball Court.

Sixers II blanked their archrivals in the first, 8-0, then continued to dominate them in the second and rested with a 14-3 lead at the break. It was a 32-9 score after 24 minutes of play and Sixers II crowned G-Rollers with the 19-point victory as the final buzzer sounded.

Eric Aguon was the high-point man for Sixers II with eight, while Jason Palacios fired 10 points for G-Rollers II, which dropped to 1-3 in the standings.
