Continental ranked No. 1 most admired global airline again
HOUSTON—Continental Airlines announced Friday that it was again rated the top airline on Fortune magazine’s annual airline industry list of Most Admired Global Companies. This is the third year that Continental has topped that list.
Last week, Fortune also announced that Continental was ranked the most admired airline on Fortune’s annual America’s Most Admired airline industry list.
“We are honored to have topped both America’s Most Admired and Most Admired Global Companies airline industry lists,” said chair and chief executive officer Larry Kellner. “My co-workers work hard every day to deliver an outstanding product and I’m glad that their efforts have been recognized.”
Corporate and airline executives, boards of directors and industry analysts ranked the airlines based on nine attributes: innovativeness, employee talent, use of corporate assets, social responsibility, quality of management, financial soundness, long-term investment value, quality of products and services, and globalness.
Continental Airlines is the world’s sixth-largest airline. Continental, together with Continental Express and Continental Connection, has more than 3,100 daily departures throughout the Americas, Europe and Asia, serving 151 domestic and 133 international destinations, more than any other carrier in the world.
More than 400 additional points are served via SkyTeam alliance airlines, which include Aeromexico, Air France, Alitalia, CSA Czech Airlines, Delta Air Lines, KLM, Korean Air and Northwest Airlines.
With 42,000 employees, Continental has hubs serving New York, Houston, Cleveland and Guam, and together with Continental Express, carries approximately 61 million passengers per year. Continental consistently earns awards and critical acclaim for both its operation and its corporate culture. (PR)
