Wiseman orders deportation of overstaying tourist
Superior Court Associate Judge David Wiseman yesterday ordered the deportation of a nonresident woman who came to Saipan as a tourist but overstayed for almost eight years.
Wiseman said that he had determined by clear and convincing evidence that respondent Marilou Serac Rama, a Filipino, is a deportable alien in that she failed to comply with the conditions and requirements of her entry.
The judge said the 45-year-old Rama overstayed her entry permit, which expired on March 15, 1998.
“It is ordered that the respondent is a deportable alien, that she is ordered deported from the Commonwealth, and that she be removed forthwith pursuant to Commonwealth law and regulation,” Wiseman said.
Wiseman ordered that any cash bail posted in this case is exonerated to the posting party.
The judge said Rama’s travel documents are to be released to Immigration investigator John Peter for repatriation purposes.
Peter apprehended the respondent on Feb. 16, 2006 in Gualo Rai.
Peter said that on Feb. 2, 2006, he received tips that Rama has overstayed in the CNMI as a tourist and that she has worked illegally as a babysitter.
The investigator said Rama admitted to him that she has overstayed in the CNMI by seven years and 11 months.
The respondent allegedly confessed she has been babysitting for various parents on Saipan.
