Yankees, Rangers make 2006 debut tomorrow
The Northern Yankees and Ford Rangers make their 2006 debuts tomorrow in the Saipan Major League at the Francisco M. Palacios Baseball Field.
This according to league coordinator Tony Rogolifoi, who said yesterday that the two powerhouse teams will put their skills to the test at 2pm, following action in the opening day of the 2006 Saipan Little League Baseball season.
He added that the Seabees, who won in the opening day of the league last Sunday, would then take on the Bud Kings on Sunday at 2pm.
Rogolifoi said a schedule for the SML regular season will be provided soon. The schedule was not released yet as SML and Little League officials were discussing their schedules, as the two associations will be sharing the field.
The SML normally holds its games at night on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays, while the Little League occupies the field at night on Tuesdays and Thursdays. However, the facility’s lighting system is not capable of providing enough light onto the field. With that, both leagues will be playing games during the day until the lighting situation improves.
The other team playing in the SML is the Masters Selection, which is currently 0-1 after dropping their game against the Seabees. (Shan Seman)
